2020 scallop season changes proposed

A reduced 50% early-season bag limit and Labor Day closure are two of the proposed changes that could affect Taylor County scallopers starting in 2020.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is expected to make a final decision next week on setting the permanent season dates for the annual scallop season in Big Bend waters of the Gulf of Mexico. This year’s season, which was set by FWC executive order, will run June 15 through Sept. 10.
