Mrs. Deanna Lamb, 73, passed away on April 18, 2019,
in Perry. Deanna was born February 19, 1946, in Tallassee, Ala., to Earl Dean
Mann and Mary Ila Patterson Mann.
Deanna moved to Perry in 1954 when she was eight
years old. She met her husband of 51 years in the fourth grade. She grew up
with six sisters in a musical household, and she carried her love of music
throughout her life. She played French horn in school and was self-taught in
piano, guitar, trumpet, and flute, and sang in the choir all her life. She
attended Saint Margaret’s Hospital School of Nursing in Montgomery, Ala. She
spent her career as a RN in the local hospital and health department. Later,
she taught health occupations for middle school kids and finished her career at
Big Bend Technical College, teaching the Practical Nursing Program. Deanna
loved unconditionally and touched many lives through her generous spirit and
caring personality. She was a devoted member of St. James Episcopal Church, where
she put her strong faith into action. Her roles included President of Daughters
of the King, vestry member and choir member/director. She was an amazing
mother, wife, mentor and friend.
Deanna was preceded in death by her parents Dean
and Mary Mann, and two sisters Linda Mackee and Beth Mann
She is survived by her husband of 51 years
Walter Scott Lamb Jr.; children Natalie Lamb (Ross), Anna Singletary (Jody),
and William Lamb (Kristin), two granddaughters Hannah Branum (J.C.) and Avery
Lamb, one great grandson Ace Branum, sisters Cathy Mann, Betty Mann, Becky
Mann, and Elyse Haug as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April
23, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Episcopal Church with Father Aquilla
Hanson officiating. Interment services will follow immediately afterwards in
Pineview Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to
8:00 PM on Monday, April 22, 2019 at Burns Funeral Home of Perry. All
arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
