Taylor County’s longest-serving current public official, School Board Chairperson Brenda Carlton, shared a snapshot of the changes and challenges she’s seen over her nearly three decades of service during a presentation to the Perry Women’s Club.
“I was elected to the school board in 1990. I don’t know how long I’ve been chair – we have to go back in the archives to see. But that’s the past. We don’t know what the future will hold. The Legislature is looking at term limits, and we still don’t know what they plan to send to the governor,” Carlton said.
