Policy changes, but no charges

Despite “very troubling allegations” contained in a comprehensive Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) investigative report, the State Attorney’s Office has declined to prosecute those involved in a Nov. 8, 2018, “inmate on inmate” battery at the Taylor County Jail.

As a result of the investigation, one correctional officer resigned in lieu of termination, two others were suspended, and the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) has instituted a number of new policies at the Taylor County Jail – including new officer body cameras that must be recording at all times when officers are in contact with inmates
