FDOT: ‘No plans’ to transfer SR 51

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has apparently abandoned plans to re-route State Road 51 (Riverside Drive) in Steinhatchee in front of Sea Hag Marina and will instead look at other options to improve pedestrian safety in the area.

The proposal, which would have included transferring ownership of the 0.18 mile section of Riverside Drive to the county, was first unveiled two weeks ago at the Taylor County Commission’s April 16 meeting by Stephen L. Browning with FDOT’s Planning & Environmental Management Office
