James Calvin “Jay” Porter demised on May 11, 2019, at his home. He was born on Jan. 3, 1951, to the late Ollie and Ruby Porter.
He graduated from Jerkins High School in 1968. After graduation, he joined the United States Air Force and received an honorable discharge.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife Cynthia Porter; daughter Kessala Porter; siblings George Porter, Charlie Porter (Glorida, Rosa Heath, Rachel Porter, Sharon Henderson and Valorie Moore (David); a devoted and caring niece Shawanda Porter Massey, brother in-law Riley Wynn and a host of nieces, nephews, step grandchildren and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, May 17, 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Trinity Funeral Home. The funeral will be Saturday, May 18, at 11 a.m. at New Brooklyn M. B. Church. Interment will be Monday, May 20, at 2 p.m. at the Tallahassee National Cemetery.
Trinity Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
