Phillip
Wayne Tharpe, 66, passed away on May 19, 2019, in Tallahassee. Phillip was born
April 25, 1953, in Port St. Joe, Fla., to Phillip George Tharpe and Mary Rhames
Tharpe Pickron.
Phillip was of the Christian faith. He worked as a mechanic for 42
years as owner of Tharpe Automotive Inc. And was also a member of
Three Rivers Hunting Club.
Phillip was preceded in death by his parents Phillip George Tharpe and
Mary Rhames Tharpe Pickron.
Phillip is survived by his wife of 43 years Judy Murphy Tharpe; his
son, Jerrod and his wife Abbey; his daughter, Mary Beth Williams and her
husband Josh; two brothers, Joe and Ricky Tharpe; two sisters, Shirley
Shinholser and Linda Oaks; four grandchildren, Lacey and Hallie Tharpe and Ethan
and Julie Williams, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at 9 a.m. at
Pisgah Cemetery with Bro. Ben Kimmell officiating. The family will
receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at Calvary
Baptist Church. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home
of Perry.
In lieu of flowers a scholarship fund has been established at Buckeye Community Federal Credit Union as the Phillip Tharpe Scholarship Fund to support the Mechanics program at Big Bend Technical College at 1825 South Jefferson Street Perry, Fla. 32348.
