    A life devoted to service, family

    As the oldest of five children, R.V. Hunter was used to taking charge. That experience, gained from “leading” his three younger brothers and younger sister, came to the forefront when he joined the military a few months shy of his 20th birthday.

    “He showed leadership skills in his testing. He was the oldest of five, so he had to have leadership skills,” his son, Mike Hunter, recalls. “He never served as a combat serviceman, but he trained soldiers. Later in his career, he trained men to be trainers themselves.”
