Will Suncoast extension run through Taylor Co.?

Gov. Ron DeSantis has signed off on a controversial bill that could pave the way for a major toll road extension — likely cutting through Taylor County — including a 150- mile extension connecting the Suncoast Parkway in the Tampa Bay area to the Georgia border in Jefferson County.

On Friday, May 17, DeSantis was joined by Florida Senate President Bill Galvano (R-Bradenton) as he signed Senate Bill (SB) 7068 into law at a small, private ceremony in Sarasota – one hour after a large public ceremony, attended by law enforcement, students, politicians and the media, in which he signed another bill banning texting while driving.
