    RR grant picking up steam

    A $17.3 million project to upgrade the railroad between Perry, Fla. and Adel, Ga., is moving forward after the Taylor County Commission approved two agreements last week to serve as a pass-through agency between the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) – which is providing an $8.6 million grant – and Georgia & Florida Railway, LLC, (FGRR), which will provide the remainder of the funds.

    The county received the $8.6 million grant in 2017 after applying for the funding at the request of OmniTRAX, which operates GFRR.
