Murder suspect back in court for third trial

The state’s third attempt to prosecute Cordell Washington for the alleged 2015 murder of fellow inmate Steve Benson was delayed yet again Wednesday after testimony from a key witness stunned the courtroom.

The 14-person jury spent the majority of Wednesday’s trial out of the courtroom and were not privy to issues that arose the morning of the trial to avoid any potential bias.
