Citing an increasing court case load and the fact student attendance rates have not improved over the past five years — despite the revival of a local truancy court — County Court Judge Bill Blue recently notified school officials he will no longer preside over school truancy cases.
In a May 17 letter to Superintendent of Schools Dr. Danny Glover Jr., school board members and Taylor County School District administrators, Blue provided a history of the local truancy court program and his reasons for stepping down.
