Hampton wants hotel for Lake City meeting

Councilwoman Shirlie Hampton, who volunteered to serve as the city’s representative on the North Central Florida Regional Planning Council, is now asking the city to pay for a hotel room when she attends the monthly meetings in Lake City.

Hampton, who turns 70 next month, cited the long drive (approximately 66 miles one way) and likely late-night return (10 p.m. or later) as her reasons for seeking the funding.
