    Willie Merle Russ

    Willie Merle Russ, 66, passed away June 6, 2019 in Perry. Willie was born October 25, 1952 in Wewahitchka to William Russ and Elease Tucker Stadler.

    Willie was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Westside Baptist Church. He worked as an aluminum welder with United Welding and Aluminum Fab before going on disability for Ankylosing Spondylitis. Willie worked at home on small engines and boat motors when he was able. He will be affectionately remembered as the “Piddler” by his family and friends.

    Willie was preceded in death by: his parents, William Russ and Elease Stadler; his stepfather, John Stadler; his sister, Ann Pitts; and his grandson, James Schiffhauer.

    Willie is survived by: his wife of 47 years, Rebecca Russ; his children, Latricia (Neal) Sadler, Sheri Schiffhauer and Heath (Joni) Russ; six grandchildren, Macy Sadler, Marlee Sadler, Carrie Beth Sadler, Michael Schiffhauer, Gregory Bauer and Alissa Russ; his brother, Jimmy Stadler and stepbrother, Mallie Xanthull; his sisters, Maxine (Ken) Williams, Lisa (Ray) Livingood and stepsister, Helen Russ; as well as a host of nieces and nephews, and a special Aunt Bessie and Uncle Jay Tucker.

    A graveside service was held Sunday, June 9, at 2 p.m. at San Pedro Baptist Church with Bro. Billy Gipson and Bro. Tim McDonald officiating. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, June 8, at Burns Funeral Home of Perry. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
