The Taylor County School Board has reviewed and approved a new “School Resource Deputy Program Agreement” that will pay the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) $500,000 to provide eight “School Resource Deputies” (SRDs) for the upcoming 2019-20 school year.
The amended agreement, approved at the school board’s first meeting in June, spells out the responsibilities and duties of the SRDs (formerly called School Resource Officers or SROs) to provide “law enforcement related services to Taylor County public schools.”
