    Short Story Contest winners announced, awards ceremony is planned June 24

    The Friends of the Taylor County Public Library has announced the winners of the annual Short Story Contest.

    They include:

    • Youth Division: first place, “A Trip I Will Never Forget” by Kylie Crowley; second place, “Michael’s Story of Freedom” by
    Jack Johnson; and honorable mentions, “The Adventure of Ninja vs. Ninja” by Alejandra Cartagena and “Monsters in My Dream” by Elizah Freeman.

    • Student Division: first place, “Sol and Lun” by Nicole Davis; second place, “A Grave Mistake” by Delaney Ann Loyed; and honorable mention, “Sharks! The New Predators” by Lilly Luther.

    • Adult Division: first place, “Beyond Big Blue” by Amanda Coxwell, and second place, “Rough Seas” by Jenna Linton.

    The winning authors will be recognized during an awards ceremony planned Monday, June 24, at the Taylor County Public Library, starting at 5:15 p.m.

    Following the awards presentation, the Friends will present a program featuring Dayla Ann Daniels of Day, the 10-year-old author of the published children’s book, “Ali Alligator.”

    Light refreshments will be served, and a door prize will be given away.

    The awards ceremony and author program will both be held at Taylor County Public Library, 403 N. Washington Street.
