Rainy start to state softball tournament leads to game delays and venue change

The first day of the 2019 Florida Babe Ruth Softball State Tournament started out very rainy Thursday morning, causing organizers to delay games and eventually forcing them to move the tournament to Champions Park in Newberry, which has turf fields.

Taylor County has three All-Star softball teams (8U, 10U & 12U) in Lake City. They were all slated to begin play Thursday, but had a hard time due to rain and the resulting game delays.
