Celebrate on the river or in the park

    Posted on June 26, 2019

If you are looking to have a blast this 4th of July, you can choose between a riverside celebration or a downtown get-down.

Independence Day activities in Steinhatchee will include a “Picnic in the Park” featuring a mullet toss, fish fry, concessions, sweet treats and fireworks!

Ken’s Kettle Corn will be set up at River Haven Marina, and the American Legion Post 291 is hosting the fish fry.

Events will be centered around the Steinhatchee Community Center.

The fireworks will be shot from the Chad Reed Memorial Bridge, and bridge traffic will be closed at 8:30 p.m.

    Admission is free.

If you’d like to stay closer to town for the 4th, celebrate America’s Independence Day with live musical entertainment, BBQ, kids’ fun and fireworks Thursday, July 4, at Rosehead Park in historic downtown Perry.

Activities kick off at 6 p.m. with vendors and a Kids’ Fun Zone featuring bounce houses and face painting.

Artist Sarah Trimm will take the stage at 6 p.m. to perform a variety of
classic and modern country covers as well as original songs.

Andy Pursell & Band will headline the night at 7:30 p.m. with a string of originals and classic covers.

Fireworks will light up the skies at 9 p.m.

Free Moon Pies will be handed out, and there will also be a Moon Pie Eating Contest, as well as an Apple Pie Eating Contest.

Studstills is sponsoring a Cornhole Tournament that also begins at 6 p.m.

A fireworks show is also planned to be held at Keaton Beach on July 6, pending approval by the county commission.
