The Perry Elks Lodge and Lady Elks will host a brunch fund-raiser this Sunday, June 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to benefit a four-year-old leukemia patient.
Tickets are $10 per plate, and the menu (your choice of one) includes: Eggs Benedict, French toast, chicken and waffles and hamburgers.
All proceeds will benefit the family of Marvin Overstreet.
“Marvin was diagnosed with leukemia on Sept. 3. At the time, he was living in Costa Rica with his parents and younger brother. The family has since relocated to Gainesville to get him the care and treatment he needs,” Lady Elks President Nikki Anderson said.
“His parents are Ivey and Alex Overstreet. Brother Ivey was the preacher at Westside Baptist Church here for many years. Marvin is currently taking chemo treatments at Shands Hospital. As we all know, these treatments take such a toll on his body, as well as an emotional toll on his parents. We hope to ease some of the stress for this sweet family by helping financially with their travels, bills and daily living,” she said.
Tickets are available from any Lady Elk, including Anderson, Vice President Bridgette Robertson, Treasurer Lisa Gotch and Secretary Ann Huff.
