The commander of American Legion Post 291 in Steinhatchee was arrested Saturday and charged with a third degree felony for operating a gambling house following an undercover operation in which the investigating officer received a total winning payout of $55.
The arrest came just over two months after agents with the Florida Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco (ABT) seized seven gambling machines and nearly $21,000 in cash during the execution of a search warrant at the location on April 16.
Barry Lynn Cantrell, 68, was released on his own recognizance (ROR) the same day as his arrest.
