Hampton remains firm on new seat, overnight stays

Councilwoman Shirlie Hampton passed on an opportunity Tuesday to serve on a board that meets every two months around noon in Tallahassee, and instead insisted she wanted to continue serving on the North Central Florida Regional Planning Council, although that appointment means an overnight stay in Lake City.

City Manager Taylor Brown proposed the switch after being approached by the Big Bend Continuum of Care Board in Tallahassee seeking a representative from the council.
