A public sale date has been set for next week in the county’s foreclosure proceedings against a Cedar Island property owner who was found to be in violation of the county’s code enforcement regulations back in 2011, but has filed a motion to stay (stop) the sale while his appeal is heard before the First District Court of Appeals.
According to county officials, Timothy Brooks of Michigan is
also threatening to sue each county commissioner individually -– in addition to
County Administrator LaWanda Pemberton, Assistant County Administrator Marsha
Durden and County Attorney Conrad Bishop — for $100 million in damages.
