David Hershell Benton “Hershey,” 65, passed away Saturday night, June 22, 2019.
Hershey was born May 3, 1954 in Perry to Shorty and Edna Brannon Benton.
Hershey was a master logger, and loved being out in nature hunting, fishing and scavenging for old bottles and artifacts.
Hershy was preceded in death by: his father, Shorty Benton; his mother, Edna Benton; and his brother, Barney Benton.
He is survived by: his wife of 17 years, Deborah Susan Poppell; his two sons, David Benton and Christopher Benton; his stepdaughters, Eugenia Parker and Samantha Parker; his stepson, Scott Jowers; four sisters, Whella Cannon, Winett Wilson, Rudy Benton, and Viddia Wallace; one brother, Sherril Benton; several grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and two best friends who were like brothers, Glenn Freeman and Benji Tuten.
There will be a memorial service at the Indian Springs Cemetery on Fox Hunters Grade Saturday, July 6, at 9 a.m.
