Americans spend more the $1 billion on fireworks each year, according to the American Pyrotechnics Association, however local veterans say the cost of independence is “immeasurable.”
Before fireworks lit up the sky in Perry and Steinhatchee over this Fourth of July holiday, several Taylor County veterans agreed to take a moment and share the honor and distinction of having served the United States of America — “home of the free because of the brave.”
