    PPD officer suffers self-inflicted gunshot wound

    A seven-year veteran of the Perry Police Department (PPD) was listed in “critically stable” condition at a regional trauma center Tuesday afternoon after suffering from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot Monday night.

    According to a joint information release by the PPD and Taylor County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO), PPD officers responded to the residence of off-duty PPD officer Chad Cannon, regarding a report that a person had been shot with a firearm on Monday, July 8, at 10:47 p.m. When officers arrived, they found Cannon, 29, suffering from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot injury.
