George Allen Barclay

George Allen Barclay, 65, passed away July 4, 2019, at his residence in Perry surrounded by his family. George was born February 3, 1954, in Greenville to Robert Lee Barclay and Mae Bell Southall Barclay.

George was of the Baptist faith and was a member of New Macedonia Baptist Church. He worked as a manager with Buckeye for 35 years. Some of his passions included bass fishing and being outdoors.

George was preceded in death by: his parents, Robert Lee Barclay and Mae Bell Southall Barclay; a daughter, Laura LeeAnn Barclay; one sister, Margaret Elizabeth Barclay; and a brother, Albert Lee Barclay.

George is survived by: his wife of 28 years, Caroline Beach Barclay; six daughters, Robin Gray Isman, Lori Gray Freeman, Melissa Barclay Kelm, Dana Cheree Barclay Davis, Brandy Marie Barclay and Kristina Jolee Barclay; two brothers, Robert Eugene Barclay and Donald Edward Barclay; two sisters Sarah Ann Buchanan and Marie Barclay Shetty;13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Monday July 8, at 11 a.m. at the New Macedonia Baptist Church with Dee Freeman officiating. Interment services followed immediately afterwards in Barclay cemetery. The family received friends from 10-11 a.m. on Monday, July 8, at the church. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
