PPD officer is ‘on the mend’

Perry Police Department (PPD) Ptl. Chad Cannon has been upgraded from critical to stable condition and is “on the mend” after suffering a single self-inflicted gunshot wound Monday night.

“He is out of the critical stage, and he is stable, which means he is not getting any worse,” PPD Police Chief Jamie Cruse said Thursday afternoon. “He has actually been up walking today, but he is still in serious condition and is still acutely ill.”
