Testimony presented last week provided conflicting versions of an altercation during a night of drinking and socializing at a house party that led to a “posse” returning to engage in an “alcohol-fueled” brawl which ended with a 25-year-old mother of two dead and another 25-year-old wife and mother facing possible second-degree murder charges.

After hearing five hours of sometimes contradictory testimony from 10 different witnesses last Thursday, Circuit Court Judge Greg Parker is now deliberating a self-defense motion filed by Kayla Pittman’s attorney regarding the Dec. 9, 2018, shooting death of Shawnie Easlick.

Jerrod Pittman said he remembers “standing by his truck” and then “I woke up in the middle of the road.”
