County enjoys budget surplus

Just one year after the Taylor County Commission went through one of its most contentious budget cycles in recent memory, the path has been much smoother through the first of two budget workshops this year.

Discussions began last week with commissioners being informed of a surplus in the general fund, thanks to increased tax revenues from rising property values and a “pass” (no premium increase) on its employee health insurance plan.
