City eyes possible 9% tax increase

    Posted on July 31, 2019

As it has in past fiscal years, the Perry City Council has set its proposed millage rate at the “maximum majority” level – with the understanding that the city is “working backward” in hopes of lowering the rate as talks progress and staff works to close a projected $614,000 shortfall in the coming year’s budget.

When the City of Perry advertises its proposed budget and millage rate, it will be required to advertise a tentative property tax rate increase of 8.79% – which reflects a .535-mill increase over the roll-back rate of 6.0843 mills.
