Budget adds new firefighters, deputy; earmarks 25% of sales tax for hospital

Although there could be additional tweaks over the next month and a half, the Taylor County Commission has completed the framework of the county’s 2019-20 budget, which includes a slight increase in the county’s property tax millage rates.

As currently written, the budget includes adding two new firefighters, one new sheriff’s deputy and earmarks 25% of the local one-cent sales tax revenues for capital purchases at Doctors’ Memorial Hospital (DMH) for the next three years.
