Beaches to get full-time firefighters with county budget hike

The Keaton Beach area might have full-time fire protection service beginning later this year, after the Taylor County Commission tentatively approved a slight increase to the property tax rates to cover the cost of two new firefighters.

At a special meeting held Tuesday evening, the commission approved a proposed 0.0573-mill (4.9%) increase to the county’s MSTU property tax millage rate (which is levied on all properties outside the City of Perry limits).
