    Officials ‘weed’ through options over hazy hemp law

    While some stoners may think recently-passed legislation legalizing hemp – and a neighboring circuit’s decision to no longer prosecute simple marijuana possession cases – could get them a free pass, the Third Judicial Circuit’s top attorney warns you better think twice before trying to pass off illegal cannabis as hemp.

    On the final day of the 2019 legislative session, Florida lawmakers passed SB 1020, which included the removal of hemp from the state’s controlled substance list and created an industrial hemp program that would allow the Department of Agriculture to administer regulations regarding licensing and cultivation of hemp — the THC-deficient cousin of marijuana
