    Murder charge is dismissed

    Citing the “totality of the evidence” and weighing the credibility of witness testimony, Circuit Judge Greg Parker granted a motion to dismiss murder charges against Kayla Pittman for the December 2018 shooting death of Shawnie Easlick under Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” law.

    In a nine-page written ruling issued Friday, Aug. 2, Parker outlined how “the state failed to show, by clear and convincing evidence, that the defendant was not justified in using deadly force to defend herself and her husband.”
