Evelyn M. Karakitsios

Surrounded by her family, Evelyn M. Karakitsios, 87, of Satellite Beach, passed away Thursday, Aug. 8, 2019. 

Born October 27, 1931 in Tarpon Springs, Evelyn was the daughter of the late Harry and Katina Mantzanas of Perry. She was raised in Perry and graduated from Taylor County High School in 1949. She graduated from Florida State University in 1953, and worked as a teacher, principal and administrator for the Taylor County School District throughout her career as an educator.

Evelyn is survived by: her husband of 56 years, Costas N. Karakitsios; two daughters, Thalia Stamatelos and her husband, Thomas, of Bedford Hills, N.Y., and Ephi Karakitsios of Athens, Greece; a sister, Irene Kelly of Atlantic Beach; two grandchildren, John Thomas and Nicholas Stamatelos; and many nephews, nieces and cousins.

A graveside service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Perry. Services will be officiated by the Reverend Father Robert J. O’Loughlin, priest at Holy Mother of God Greek Orthodox Church of Tallahassee.
