More than 30 inches of rain fell on Steinhatchee over the course of four days, resulting in major flooding throughout the community, damaging nearly 60 homes and several businesses.
The weather dealt Steinhatchee a one-two punch, with the rainfall directly inundating many low-lying areas where the water had nowhere to go, while the Steinhatchee River jumped eight feet in just 12 hours on Saturday and continued to rise, flooding numerous properties along its way to the Gulf.
