Ward, Deming volunteer to cut salaries by 50%

Two city council members elected to slash their individual salaries in half as they attempted to lessen the impact of raising utility rates across the board and imposing a higher property tax for the coming year.

During budget talks Tuesday, Councilman Ward Ketring said, “Can we individually decide to cut our own salaries? Cut mine in half.”
