At a previous June 18 school board meeting, local band parent Douglas Wallace appeared before the board to voice his concern about TCHS band members being required to pay money in order to be a part of the Pride of Taylor Marching Band.
“I am not sure the board is fully aware of the situation at TCHS,” Wallace said. “Each student is charged a $150 fee in order to participate in the band. School personnel justify this by referring to Leon County schools, but the median income is $10,000 more in Leon County than in Taylor County.”
