    Shawn Mo-Tye Knight

    Shawn Mo-Tye Knight, 59, passed away on September 3, 2019, in Tallahassee. Shawn was born November 10, 1959, in Perry to Dorsey Knight and Margie Lewis Knight.

    Shawn was of the Baptist faith and was a member of First Baptist Church of Perry. Shawn worked as an iron worker for most of his life. He was also a jack of all trades and did many other jobs such as plumbing, flooring, construction, etc. He was a member of the of the Camp Misery Hunting Club. Shawn was an avid hunter and fisherman. If you needed to find him, he was in the woods or on the water with his friends. He enjoyed cooking for his wife and daughter. He loved creating recipes for them to try and he loved trying his daughter’s recipes too. He had a green thumb and loved gardening. He loved to talk and tell stories. He never met a stranger. He would do anything for anyone. Shawn would give the shirt straight off of his back and wouldn’t think twice. He had a very big heart full of love and happiness.

    Shawn is preceded in death by his parents, Dorsey Knight and Margie Lewis Knight, his older sisters Lu-Juan Knight and Pam Knight, and his baby brother John Dorsey Knight.

    Shawn is survived by his loving, devoted wife of 27 years, Jean Knight; his daughter who was his world, Erica Knight and her boyfriend Cody Walker; his sister Tonye Knight; his very special friends Mary Ann Walker, Clint Lewis, Steve Tomlinson, Billy Freeman, Billy Gipson and Mr. Albert Johnson; as a well as a host of nieces and nephews.

    At this time, no services are planned. Instead, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
