Benny L. Bolden Sr.

Benny L. Bolden Sr., 67, died Aug. 19, 2019, in Perry. Mr. Bolden was born on Oct. 10, 1951, in Perry. He graduated in 1970 from Jerkins High School, where he was a member of the marching band.Shortly after graduation, he moved to Miami and was employed by Midas Muffler Company.

He remained a faithful employee and during his tenure was promoted to general manager until 2000. In 2003, Mr. Bolden returned to his hometown and continued to serve his community. He was a devoted member of Little Bethel A.M.E. Church in Perry.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie Ruth Jones and Dan Bolden. Survivors include: his wife, Joan D. Bolden; sons, James E. Gillispie Jr. (Lisa) and Dr. Benny L. Bolden Jr. (Whitney); daughters, Sonya G. Upshaw (Kelvin), Kimberly Charlton (Percy), Dr. Kristy G. Orisma (Ronald) and Kamille Bolden; brother, Clarence Bolden (Mamie); sister, Jacquelyn Watkins (Ira) and 13 grandchildren.

Memorial services were held Saturday, Aug. 31, at 10 a.m., at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home in Tallahassee (700 Timberland Road). Evans Walker Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
