Leonce Delores King,
89, passed away on September 11, 2019, in Tallahassee. Leonce was born February
12, 1930, in Perry to James Berry O’Steen and Florence Delilah Simmons O’Steen.
Leonce was a Christian and a
member of the Ash Street Church of Christ. She also attended Crosspoint
and Westside Baptist churches. She was an astute business woman who owned
various businesses from Upholstery to farming and property owner during
her lifetime. For pleasure she loved singing, dancing and playing the
piano. She also loved to draw and raise animals.
Leonce was preceded in death
by her parents, James Berry O’Steen and Florence Delilah Simmons and her
spouse of 41 years Corbitt Mitchell King, her three sisters Minnie Lee Tharpe,
Isabelle McLeod, Lessie Vee Byrd and two brothers Joyce and Rufus O’Steen.
Leonce is survived by a son,
Gary King and his wife Cathey, four daughters Madelyn Collins and her
husband Buster, Patsy Tedder, Phyllis Yates and her husband Thomas and Susan
Lee and her husband James, 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grands and seven
great-great-grandchildren and a host of friends, nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on
Monday, September 16, 2019, at 2 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home of Perry
with Tim McDonald and Joe Wynn officiating. Interment services will
follow immediately afterwards in Carlton Cemetery. The family will receive
friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, September 16, 2019, at Burns Funeral
Home of Perry. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home
of Perry.
