What at first appeared to be a quiet and relatively uneventful end to the Taylor County Commission’s summer budget cycle Monday evening abruptly turned frosty after board members came to the realization they would not be able to eliminate or change the existing solid waste assessment exemptions for recreational vehicles (RVs) and hunting camps for the upcoming 2019-20 fiscal year.
Much of the resulting anger was targeted at County Administrator LaWanda Pemberton, who several commissioners blamed for not informing them of the need to amend the ordinance governing the assessments on RVs and hunting camps.
