The pungent smell of gunpowder lingered in the air as students in blood-stained clothing laid wounded amongst shotgun shell casings scattered along a concrete walkway at the local middle school.
Gaping wounds were visible through tattered clothing, and bullet fragments jutted out of open flesh.
