With the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) set to consider a final vote on a series of new spotted seatrout fishing restrictions in December, the Taylor County Commission passed a resolution this week voicing their strong opposition to the proposed regulations.
At their Oct. 2 meeting, the FWC approved the draft rule changes as proposed by staff, but several members of the board appeared receptive to considering other options after listening to several Taylor County speakers who urged the commission to consider the economic impact on the county and Big Bend region. They also made it clear they wanted additional information from staff about specific issues raised concerning the Big Bend and South Florida areas.
