Man found dead after house fire

The State Fire Marshal’s (SFM) office is investigating a fire at a home on Highway 221 that claimed the life of a local resident Friday evening, Oct. 25. However, few details regarding the cause of the fire have been released.

The victim has been identified as 81-year-old Raymond Earl Pickron, known to many through his former business, Tharpe and Pickron Automotive.
