    They answered the call to service…and we salute them!

    Robert “Toby” Hunter Jr. enlisted in the United State Air Force in 1957 and served eight years. His memorial flag will be raised over Veterans Memorial Park during a flag-changing ceremony planned on Veterans Day, Monday, Nov. 11.

    Robert L. Hunter Jr., better known as “Toby” to his family and friends, had been out of high school for less than two years when he decided to follow in the footsteps of his older brother, R.V. Hunter, and join the United States Air Force.

    During his eight-year enlistment, the Taylor County native served at bases in Mississippi, Texas, Florida, Alaska and West Germany.
