Community rallies to help toddler, family

    Posted on November 8, 2019

There will be a fund-raiser in the Save-a-lot parking lot on Saturday, Nov. 9 to support Cayden Sadler and his family.

The event will take place from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. and will feature food, gift baskets and a raffle.

For just $8 per plate, guests will get a feast of a lunch that includes: BBQ or plain chicken, baked beans, coleslaw, a dinner roll, a brownie and a bottle of water.

Raffle tickets are available for $1 each. Gift baskets will feature a wide variety of goodies, with everything from t-shirts, hats, Woods ‘n Water subscriptions, spray tans, custom cups, homemade pound cakes and more.

All proceeds from this event will go to Kelly Lukens, mother of a one-and-a-half-year-old baby boy, Cayden Sadler, to assist with his medical care costs and in-home needs.

Cayden was born at 27 weeks and suffers from polymicrogyria, a rare brain condition in which the brain has many abnormal tiny folds.

As a result, three major sections of Cayden’s brain are compromised, causing him to have seizures daily, a lack of motor skills, inability to speak and cerebral palsy.

“I can only imagine the cost of having doctors visits and medications, plus the cost of travel to Gainesville weekly. The holidays are coming up so fast — wouldn’t it be great to lessen the stress of the cost financially and mentally? Let’s come together my awesome Perry family!,” organizer Leslie Dean said.

Dean extended a thank you to those who have already donated, stating: “I want you all to know that I really appreciate all of your help and contributions. Whether it be money, food, equipment or time, it’s all valued the same.”
