With 850 area code nearly full, Taylor will soon begin seeing 448 numbers

Taylor Countians will soon begin to see a new 448 area code popping up on their caller ID, as the regional 850 code that has long been synonymous with the Big Bend/Panhandle region nears exhaustion.

As a growing population and new technologies drive the demand for new numbers, the Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) approved a new area code on Nov. 5 that is scheduled to be introduced to the Florida Panhandle in 2021
