    Sun, Sand & Santa

    Posted on November 19, 2019

Celebrate the holiday season with “Sun, Sand & Santa” at the annual Downtown Christmas Open House planned Friday, Dec. 6.

Festivities will include the “Santa’s Little Helpers Christmas Parade” sponsored by the Perry-Taylor County Chamber of Commerce starting at 6 p.m. along with the second annual Gingerbread House Workshop hosted by 4-H.

This year’s parade route has been extended, taking entries down Jefferson Street to Ellis.

The parade will turn in front of the Old Depot and circle back to Jefferson Street.

Participating entries will park along Jefferson Street for up-close looks and visits.

The Taylor County Historical Society will also be coordinating a tree-lighting ceremony, arts and crafts booths, “Letters to Santa” stations and a chili supper.

Visitors will be invited to sign Christmas cards that will be given to residents at the local nursing and rehabilitation home.

The Historical Society has also partnered with Andy Jackson’s “Gram’s Legacy” citrus grove to bring back a Christmas tradition that dates back to the late 1960s – Santa Claus will be giving out homegrown oranges to all good little girls and boys.

Arts and crafts booth applications are available at the Chamber of Commerce.
