Cedar Island foreclosure is awaiting appeal

    Posted on November 20, 2019

Time, storms and Mother Nature continue to take its toll on a foreclosed home on Cedar Island. The First District Court of Appeals is reviewing an appeal filed by the property owner, who faces $72,250 in accumulated fines resulting from code violations dating back to 2011.

The Taylor County Commission is awaiting a ruling from Florida’s First District Court of Appeals on Cedar Island property owner Timothy Brook’s appeal of the county’s foreclosure on his property.

In April, Circuit Judge Greg Parker ruled in favor of the county commission during a trial held at the Taylor County Courthouse, orally granting a judgement of foreclosure on the property due to $72,250 in accumulated fines resulting from code violations dating back to 2011.
